It’s finally here folks (and right on schedule I believe), like it or not and yes for only P50.00 bucks. Don’t mind rationalizing the consequences of buying the book, it’s all but worth it. Its like buying a bottle of beer and some pulutan nuts or a short time nookie at TMS Lodge (as others have told me mind you) but only with this baby its a keeper. Releasing Captin N12 in the wild is an event itself because we at SDR Comics in some way, small or large, hold the beacon of a once dead comic book scene here in Cebu and we do so hope we can make more of the like so that not only will Manila be our only thriving area for local comic book goodness but let them reckon that the Queen City of the South has something to offer as well. Trust me like you trust a certain brand of a popular condom. I’m really happy for this guy here for it is his labor of creation (or as his title post suggested here), I have yet to know the feeling man. Soonest I hope.

If you wanna get one of these babies up and if you are a local resident of Cebu then there’s no problem, just contact us via email and lets decide where we would meet up and where within the cities limits. I will be posting also the local sightings of Captin N12 Issues where you can get it at your convenience. For orders outside Cebu, we can arrange something for sure so don’t you worry true believers (copyright Stan the man Lee) just drop us a line and we will be happy to accommodate whatever dark fantasies you may harbor.

Also, as I have always mentioned in forums or in this here humble blog of mine. If you (and that is if you are from Cebu) have some comic book creation dusting about somewhere, consider us and we might come to an agreement to breath life on you masterpiece. Let SDR Comics publish it for you. We need all the help we can get to keep this movement thriving. Peace!

p.s.

We at SDR Comics now have a discussion board at Google Groups. Lets get acquainted there and decide on some issues percolating in and around SDR Comics and the Cebu comic book scene. Have a Google account?Join us, click here.

Camphone : Boredom in Black n’ White

Posted in mobile phones, photos by R.L. Bertulfo, II on July 24, 2009

Inspired by this bloggers post here and bored altogether. So why not post one of my own via my phone camera only and not some cool DSLR coz my cellphone (an aging SE P1i)  is practically with me all the time and why not use it’s pathetic camera for kicks from time to time when the photographic muse hits me.

Oldies but Goodies pt. 2-inks and a sketch

Posted in geeks, inks, sketches, the works by R.L. Bertulfo, II on July 23, 2009

You can read the first part of this post here or just freely browse the blog. :)

I have nothing better to post, been busy with finishing the Captin N12 Issue 1 dialogues/script and I was not able to sketch last week and unfortunately this week so what better lousy way to compensate by posting old fart art/sketches that I did way back 10 or so friggin years ago, pathetic me. I rarely do fan art then than now so most of what I found from my old boxes were some character studies or profile of what I (and the Zerulean, which will be part 3 of this post) happen to cook up with in me brain,  lots of ideas then on having my own superhero team or a really cool character or two then and maybe, just maybe I will resurrect and get to finish one of them now that me and the boys have our own do-it-yourself comic book house the Super Debil Robot Comics which I profusely advertise in my recent post nowadays. Image Comics was so popular then and it is evident in my sketches. Here we go:

Some YoungBlood influenced characters don’t ya thunk?! (Badrock ?)

This one I called the Emissary and I was hooked up with some Wild C.A.T.s storyline then, I forgot already.

This hear is Razorback (he is also in this previous blog post here), a pretty nifty combo of Cyber Force’s RipClaw and WildCat’s Warblade. I overly thinking of resurrecting him now.

I really thought Marc Silvestri’s Ascension character was cool and David Finch’s art rocks and still is so I made one me self which greatly influenced a comic book one shot 6 pager story that I did which the lineart work that I did was lost for all eternity en route hand carried by a friend of mine to be submitted to a Popcorn-esque comic book magazine here in Cebu then. Angels and demons have a special place in my heart also.

Another angel and demon piece, not inked, only pencilled this one and don’t have the heart to ink it for I was afraid I’d ruined it. This is the only piece that I thought I made a decent looking babe, and a demon babe for that matter and sideways and hugging the dude, and…ah, nevermind.

Here was my not so many attempts at doing sequentials with the Razorback character. Just a fight scene with no real concrete backgrounds hehhehehe. Lousy. I am still not comfy with doing a sequential now. Must muster up the courage soonest as possible or Motex will kick my arse. :)

That’s it then for part deux, f.y.i. I only scanned the most decent one that I could find, others was next to nada. Next post will be the collab we did back then when we were still in college with good old friend Zerulean.

Captin N12 Issue No. 1 Preview Pages

For the original  post and for much better resolution  click here.

It has been a blast taking part of Motmots masterpiece, early on he wanted me to do the dialogues/scripts for this baby and I gladly helped out, it was originally planned to be in our Visayan vernacular but we finally decided to just make it in english for larger audience (?) and I really do hope so that I did an acceptable job at doing it, its my first time anyway, go easy on me, hehehe. From what he told me, this project of his was started way back 2006 and so far, its 95% done and the SDR Crew (the three little pigs : Me , Motmot and Suede) will be right on schedule come July 30, 2009 if all goes well. If you’re reading this, make us happy and order a copy or if not just click on the images above and comments are highly appreciated. It’s SDR Comics maiden issue and we hope to deliver more in the future so help the Cebu Comic Book Scene alive. Tnx.

This week I feel like this and this .

Since last weekend’s drinking binge at One Mango with some buds till the break of dawn last Sunday I was pretty much tired and till now I still feel tired inside with a little hint of a fever going on internally and a mild sore throat to add to the injury. Making me paranoid and all with all them viruses rampaging in the news. I’m just tired, I guess and for the last few days I been skipping some internet time at home and go to bed just relaxing early. No stress and other life threatening sh*t as the wife forcefully demanded upon me and like a good boy I yield. For now it is manageable, I never even filed for a sick leave coz its just a mild thing. Maybe I’m  just stressed out. Some things are perculating here at work and there’s this major reshuffling of personnel which will take place within the month and all of us are patching up on our backlogs and something related here and there at the office. Sometimes I just want to shout out and then run naked away from work and never to return. Yeah, that kind of feeling. And its been like this for 9 years now. I’ve got one heck of a stomach to muster this, really.

One thing that’s perking me up lately is that I am also busy scripting/putting dialogue to the Captain N12 first issue. I was asked early on this month to do the scripting duties for Bobols is terribly busy with call center work and the babe and we needed to finish the comic book up soonest as possible so I gladly helped Motmot out in finishing his masterpiece. Pumped up mostly but hindered by me being sick nowadays so I only did the first 11 pages and I’ve got 8 pages or so to go before I end it. The first draft for the first 11 pages I already emailed to Motmot for approval and some inevitable changes. Hope it goes well and we get to release the comics within the targetted release date this July 30, 2009. For now I must recover. Mentally and physically.
